Privacy policy

GoalRush (PlayGoalRush, playgoalrush.com and the PlayGoalRush app) is run by Miles Coppard in the United Kingdom. We are the "controller" of the personal information described here.

You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@playgoalrush.com.

• •Your account: your name (as shown to other players), your email address, and your PIN if you set one (we only store a scrambled version of it, never the PIN itself).
• •Your profile, if you choose to add it: favourite Premier League team, favourite national team and country.
• •What you do on GoalRush: the competitions you join or run, your predictions and points, Community posts and replies, poll votes, and badges or awards.
• •Your settings: which alerts you want by phone or email, and what you've read under 🔔 Notifications.
• •The app: if you allow notifications in the PlayGoalRush app, a push token for your phone (a code that lets us send alerts to that device) and whether it's an iPhone or Android phone.
• •Payments: if you support GoalRush with a donation, a record of the amount, date and whether it went through. Your card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.
• •Technical information: like every website, our hosting and database providers keep short-lived logs of requests (such as IP address, browser type and time) to keep the service secure and working.

• •To run the game: your account, competitions, predictions, scores, leaderboards and Community. This is needed to provide the service you signed up for.
• •To keep you signed in and your account secure, including the emailed sign-in codes. This is needed to provide the service, and is in our legitimate interest in keeping GoalRush safe.
• •To send you service messages: sign-in codes, prediction reminders, results and alerts you can switch on or off under My settings → Alerts.
• •To send GoalRush news (new features, competitions and offers) only if you have turned it on. You can turn it off at any time.
• •To understand how GoalRush is used, with cookie-free, anonymous visit counts (Vercel Web Analytics), so we can improve it. This is in our legitimate interest and doesn't identify you.
• •To handle donations and keep the records the law requires.

• •Your name, position and points in the competitions you join, and on shared league tables and pictures.
• •Your predictions, but only once each match has locked (60 minutes before kick-off). Before that, nobody else can see them.
• •Anything you post or reply in Community.
• •Organisers can see who in their competition still has predictions to make (not what they predicted) so they can remind them.

Your email address is never shown to other players.

We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. We use a small number of trusted services to run GoalRush, and they only use your information to provide their service to us:

• •Supabase: our database and sign-in system (data stored in London).
• •Vercel: website hosting and anonymous visit statistics.
• •Resend: sends our emails (sign-in codes and reminders).
• •Stripe: takes donation payments.
• •Expo, Apple and Google: deliver notifications to the PlayGoalRush app on your phone.

Some of these companies are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, they protect it with the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as approved contract terms.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect GoalRush and its players from fraud or abuse.

We only use what's needed to make GoalRush work: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in, and a few small settings saved in your browser (for example, so the Community unread dot knows what you've already seen). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and our visit statistics are cookie-free, so you won't see a cookie banner.

• •Your account and game history: for as long as you have an account.
• •If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except anything we must keep by law (such as donation records, which we keep for 6 years).
• •Short-lived technical logs are kept by our providers for a limited time, usually days or weeks.

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR) you can ask us to:

• •give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
• •correct anything that's wrong (you can change your favourite team and alerts yourself under My settings);
• •delete your account and information;
• •stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests;
• •give you your information in a format you can take elsewhere.

Email hello@playgoalrush.com from the address you sign in with and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

You can delete your account yourself at any time from My settings → Account → Delete my account (see playgoalrush.com/account/delete). If you can't sign in, email hello@playgoalrush.com from the address you used and we'll delete it for you.

Your sign-in, email address, PIN, profile, alert settings and notifications are removed straight away. Your past predictions, points and Community posts stay, shown as "Former player", so other players' league tables don't change. You can choose to keep your name on this season's tables until the season ends. Competitions you run pass to a co-organiser, a player you choose, or GoalRush.

GoalRush is for people aged 13 and over. Donations can only be made by people aged 18 or over. If you think a child under 13 has an account, please tell us and we'll remove it.

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll let you know on GoalRush or by email.
